Individuals have the ‘Right to be Informed’ about the collection and use of their personal data. This is an essential transparency requirement under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
A privacy notice is a statement that helps people understand how their personal data is used and make informed decisions about whether to share their data based on this knowledge. We need to make sure that we tell our customers how we are going to use their data before they give it to us.
- A Privacy Notice details (as a minimum) :
- the purpose for processing individuals personal data
- the details of the information collected
- how we use the information
- the retention periods for holding personal data
- whom their information will be shared with
- the security of the information held
The Council has an overarching Privacy Notice here.
If Services do not have a direct fit to the overarching notice then there may be a need for a service specific notice.
